This unit is entirely plastic. I use it strictly for blowing leaves and grass and it works well for that. The landscape is typically wet in Washington and I use the low speed for moving loose debris without issue. I have been using it for about a year now and haven’t experienced any problems. I will probably not use it in vacuum mode as it’s all plastic and I don’t believe it could handle the load for an extended period. That’s alright with me though. For the price I believe it is a quality blower. I like it and am satisfied with the purchased and time it saves me.

Very good product. Blows fast and hard and is just the ticket for my yard. It is also very durable. I have dropped it on cement a few times, my bad, but it did not even chip, amazing.

I have owned and used several blower/vacuum electrically powered products, including a Black and Decker and this model from Toro. I harvest the leaves from the many trees on and bordering my property and deposit the mulch on the gardens in the spring. This Toro model uses a reinforced plastic impeller which works exceptionally well unless one happens to suck up the lid of a canned product or some other sharp metal object which can sever one of the blades of the impeller. Toro has since offered a metal impeller to preclude such an unwelcome interruption in this annual event. I have had to replace one impeller in the three years I have had this unit in service, the fault caused by an errant lid left out of the recycling can.

If you do vacuum leaves to save them as mulch for spring planting, Toro provides ONE bag for such use or an hose (at extra cost) for attachment to a large receptacle, such as a plastic garbage can. They do offer replacement bags but without the attachment coupling. If you are given to using bags to pick up the leaves and need more, you are out of luck. Toro will provide the bag, but not the coupling. One has to take the coupling from another bag and place it on the replacement. I use six bags, from different manufacturers for which I have obtained a clamp to secure them onto the Toro, but, unfortunately, Toro does not offer such an easily provided convenience.

After my old Toro leaf blower gave up after 8 years, I bought this one. The blower part is great, and the two-speed operation is really helpful.

Some have complained about the lack of a cord lock. My old Toro (and my Craftsman lawn mower) had one but this blower does not. I solved this problem easily by thinking outside the box. I looped the extension cord through the handle and tied it to the handle, then plugged it into the corded connected to the blower—worked like a champ.

I have not used the vacuum function and am leery of doing so. I had my old Toro for 6 years doing only blowing, and it worked perfectly. Then I discovered that it also had a vacuum feature, so I tried that. The third time out was the end: A fin broke off the impeller, and then the motor developed a loud grinding noise so that I was afraid to use it.

I also doubt whether I save any time with the vacuum. Here’s my routine: Use the blower to quickly round up the leaves into numerous piles. Force the wife to interrupt her viewing of “Dr. Phil” to get out the large piece of plastic sheeting we use. Rake the leaves into the sheeting and carry them to the street curb (where they are picked up by the county). We can rake the piles into the sheeting faster than I can vacuum then up, so we’ll just skip the vacuuming for now.

And the Toro website could stand some improvement. I tried to download a pdf version of the operator’s manual but the link was to something that was not a file.

Anyway, the blower function is really good. I recommend this.

We ordered this in October because we moved into a house with a HUGE backyard and many large oak trees. This leafblower is excellent! I can do our entire yard (which is very very large) in about an hour and a half. The leafblower has two speeds and is very light to hold (although after an hour anyone’s arms would get tired!) You will absolutely need an extension cord for this- the cord is only 2-3 inches long.

I would buy this again in a heartbeat- the price is excellent and it is a fantastic investment! I wouldn’t buy one of the more expensive models- this one does the job well for us!

This Toro vacuum/blower lasted almost eight hours before it died. I only used it for picking up oak leaves out of the flower beds. I did not experience any vibrations before failure. Poor quality in my estimation it appears that the motor burned out. I would not recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars This has turned out to be a really great blower, October 14, 2011

I live in an Atlanta suburb subdivision with an HOA. This blower is just the thing for blowing my mower clippings and string trimmer trimmings off of the driveway and sidewalk. I basically use it as a replacement for my trusty broom. So far I have had no problems with the motor or the plastic impeller as some others have. I will never use this as a vacuum, so hopefully I won’t put too much stress on the internal components. As a blower it works really well for my light-duty work. It makes noise obviously, but I don’t find it excessive. The handle is comfortable. I wish it had a variable speed trigger like my electric hedge trimmer and electric edger (hence the 4 star rating), but the two-speed knob is adequate. The leaves are just now beginning to fall from our few ornamental trees in the front yard, so I’ll be trying the blower on them soon. If this blower can handle that task, then I’d say it meets all the possible needs that I would have given my situation. I don’t think this thing would do well with heavy, wet leaves or with caked mud or sand. But it works great for my needs.

I’m delighted with how powerful this blower is and how easy it is to use. I am happy I got one this powerful and I hardly ever have to use the higher setting. I had a battery one that was lousy, I had to practically touch the ground with it to make it blow even small stuff. This thing I can hold at my waist and it blows several feet in front of me and that’s on LOW! For my needs it’s fabulous!
