Trying to Have a Baby
Are your chances in Conceiving a Baby Boy Increased
Many couples trying to have a baby do not care if the baby is a boy or girl, as long as they are healthy. Although not an exact science, there is supporting research that indicates the longer a woman takes to become pregnant the more likely she will have a baby boy.
Deciding to take the leap into parenthood, couples can usually get pregnant within a few months but in some cases, it may take much longer. There are many factors in trying to conceive a baby naturally, the timing of the union has to hit the peak of a woman’s fertility cycle before conception can take place.
However, a study conducted a few years ago may help support the numbers that boy births outnumber girl births across the globe. Even though equal amounts of X chromosome bearing sperm are equal to Y chromosome are usually distributed.
Several years ago, over 5000 women were studied during the time they were trying to conceive naturally. The outcome showed that about 10% of the women studied to more than 12 months to conceive. Of that group, the ratio of boys to girls conceived were about 58-51% respectively.
Other studies show that couples that used IVF or other assisted means had fairly equal number of boys to girls. The answer to “Why” this might happen may have to do with the ability for sperm to get past the cervical mucus during conception.
If this barrier is thicker and more difficult to get through, the Male version of the sperm may have a better chance of reaching the target than the female. Previous studies concluded that male sperm are more able to maneuver through the thick fluid than their Y(female) counterpart.
In summary, studies are still being conducted on this topic, but those couples who take a longer period of time to conceive, may very well have a baby boy in the delivery room on that special day. Trying to conceive a baby boy may be easier than you think, if your quest takes a year or more to achieve.
